TIMBER FLUSH CASEMENT WINDOW.
A member of our “heritage” range of products, our Flush Casement Window is ideally suited in providing modern security and energy efficiency whilst maintaining traditional appearances. This Timber Window is regularly used on projects involving listed buildings where significant emphasis is placed on matching the existing design.
Specification
The below specification details our Open Out Timber Flush Casement Windows. A range of cill, frame thickness, finish and ironmongery options are available. Our Flush Casement Windows have been designed to match traditional Timber Windows. Ideally suited on conservation projects such as the renovation of grade 2 listed buildings, these Windows can be provided with traditional butt hinges and casement stays, or modern high security espagnolette locking systems.
Locking System:
Like our Stormproof range, our Casement Windows utilise mushroom bolts and shootbolts. Our standard espagnolette locking systems have achieved more than 7.4Kn which is more than double the requirements of BS7950. They have also been endurance tested to 40,000 operations and have been salt spray tested for 500 hours by the BBA.
Friction Stays:
We utilise the benefits of two different friction stays in our Timber Flush Casement Window range. All our top hung Windows and side-hung egress Windows use a hinge that is manufactured in the UK and available as austenetic for enhanced corrosion resistance. For our heavier side hung sashes, we use a heavy duty hinge ensuring that the product will perform for many years to come.
Drainage:
Our internal design team are able to tailor our product to suit the most extreme exposures. Our Flush Casement Timber Windows benefit from a full dry gasket glazing system available as externally or internally beaded. The dry gasket glazing system ensures any moisture penetrating the external glazing seals has an escape route and therefore eliminates standing water from the rebate, significantly reducing the risk of rot, warping etc.
BS 7950 Security:
This Window utilises the same high specification ironmongery that achieves the BS 7950 certification on our Timber Open Out Stormproof Window but has yet to be tested in its own right. If your project has a specific requirement for this, please contact our sales team who will be happy to assist further.
TIMBER STORMPROOF WINDOW
The below specification details our Stormproof Window system. A range of cill, frame thickness, finish and ironmongery options are available. Stormproof Windows are supplied with ovolo edged sashes (except where decorative horns are required) and ovolo beads as standard. Square edged sashes, round beads and putty line beads are optional on written request.

Locking System:
Utilising mushroom bolts and shootbolts, our standard espagnolette locking systems have achieved more than 7.4Kn – more than double the requirements of BS7950. They have also been endurance tested to 40,000 operations and have been salt spray tested for 500 hours by the BBA.
Friction Stays:
We utilise the benefits of two different friction stays in our Timber Stormproof Window range. All our top-hung Windows and side-hung egress Windows use a hinge that is manufactured in the UK and available as austenetic for enhanced corrosion resistance. For our heavier side hung sashes, we use a heavy duty hinge ensuring that the product will perform for many years to come.
Drainage:
All our Timber Windows are dry gasket glazed, with either sloped or concealed drainage systems. This ensures any moisture that penetrates the external glazing seals has an escape route and therefore eliminates standing water from the rebate thus significantly reducing the risk of rot, warping etc. For more extreme locations, there is the option to upgrade the bottom bead to an aluminium section thus further significantly reducing the risk of moisture ingress.
Energy Efficiency:
Our Timber Stormproof Windows are registered with the Energy Saving Trust under the Window Energy Rating Scheme. We currently are able to offer our customers the most efficient products available under this scheme – an “A” rating. This is available on our revolutionary species “Accoya”.
BS 7950 Security:
Our externally beaded European Redwood Timber Stormproof Casement Window has achieved the standard of BS 7950 at Trada’s UKAS accredited test house. This Window benefits from thicker Timber profiles and anti-jemmy hinge devices.
Secured By Design:
By utilising our BS 7950 security Window and upgrading the glass in many circumstances to laminate, our Timber Stormproof Window meets the requirements of Secured By Design. To ascertain project specific Secured By Design requirements, we offer a service that includes liaising with both the client and the Crime Prevention Design Advisors (Architectural Liaison Officers) to ensure that the specific specification requirements are met.

TIMBER TRADITIONAL SASH SLIDER ON SPIRAL BALANCES
For those wanting traditional appearance with modern technology, our Traditional Sash Slider Windows on Spiral Balances are the perfect solution. Able to be fit into standard reveals, this Timber Windows’ typical application would be the Commercial New Build market or for older properties requiring that traditional sash fitting.
Weatherseals & Weather Rating:
This product is fully weathersealed to achieve severe weather rating. Our window has been rated by BMTrada to BS 6315 (Part 1) 2004 with the results of its exposure category being 2000+ (a copy of the certificate is available on request).
Energy Efficiency:
We have certified test results for our Timber Dempsey V Traditional Sash Slider On Spiral Balances which demonstrates its ability to achieve a whole frame U-Value of 1.5. We are currently re-simulating our Windows as we have moved from a 20mm to a 24mm glass unit.
TIMBER TRADITIONAL SASH SLIDER WITH SPIRAL BALANCES WITH TILT FACILITY
Our Traditional Sash Slider on Spiral Balances with tilt facility utilises the technology of our Sash Sliders on spiral balances with the addition of a tilt back facility for ease of cleaning making it the ideal high-rise solution.
Specification
In April 2009, we successfully tested this Window to BS 7950 demonstrating its suitability for high specification Commercial contracts. Please see below for a detailed specification of the product.
Ironmongery & Working Mechanism:
Using spiral balances, fitch fasteners and bar tilt restrictors, this Sash Slider On Spiral Balances With Tilt Facility combines traditional appearance with high-rise functionality. Both Top and bottom sashes tilt inwards to 40° -45° with the restrictor supporting a weight of up to 35kg’s.

TIMBER OPEN OUT MOCK SASH SLIDER
Combining our Flush Casement and Stormproof products, the Mock Sash Slider is a viable alternative to a traditional Vertical Slider. With integral sash horns, common sightlines and high security ironmongery, the Mock Sash Timber Slider meets all the requirements of both the new build and refurbishment projects.
Open Out Mock Sash Slider creates the appearance of a traditional vertical slider whilst utilising the hinge and locking mechanisms of an Open Out Stormproof Casement Window.
Specification
The below specification details our Open Out Mock Sash Sliders. Based on our Stormproof Window and utilising scribed sash horns to maintain the traditional appearance, this is a viable alternative to a traditional style. A dummy sash to the bottom fixed pane ensures equal sight lines further mimicking the design of a Vertical Slider. Where there is an egress requirement, the bottom dummy sash can be mounted on butt hinges with thumb turn locking points thus allowing the sash to open up.
Locking System:
Like our Stormproof Windows, our Open Out Mock Sash Slider utilises mushroom bolts and shootbolts. Our standard espagnolette locking systems have achieved more than 7.4Kn which is more than double the requirements of BS7950. They have also been endurance tested to 40,000 operations and have been salt spray tested for 500 hours by the BBA.
Friction Stays:
Tested to 30,000 full cycles and available as austenetic for high corrosion resistance, our UK manufactured friction stays compliment our range.
TIMBER TRADITIONAL SLIDER, WITH CORDS AND PULLEYS
Our Traditional Sash Slider on Cords and Pulleys is ideal for Heritage projects on listed buildings. Our ability to mimic single glazing or provide high-performance double-glazing ensures we can meet the needs of any client.
The Traditional Box Sash Slider With Weights & Pulleys uses a Timber section size that is designed to replicate the traditional Vertical Sliding Window allowing for double-glazed units
Specification
The below specification details our Traditional Box Sash Slider On Weights & Pulleys. Redesigned in early 2009 with a project brief to replicate existing Vertical Sliders on Weights and Pulleys with as much accuracy as possible, our new range has many improvements. Ball race pulley systems and English brass ironmongery help to create a smoothly operating durable product.
Ironmongery and working mechanism:
Complete with sash lift handles and central sash ring together with locking fitch fasteners (subject to location of the trickle vent) our ironmongery is available in solid brass or chrome. Operating on sash cords, ball race pulleys and sash Weights, our Sash Slider On Weights & Pulleys also has the facility to restrict the opening to 100mm which is provided using a twist lock positioned to allow the sash to open 100mm. Additional security can be provided using a second twist lock but this option is not available with internal horns.
Drainage:
Our Traditional Box Sash Slider On Weights & Pulleys benefits from dry gasket glazed drained glazing rebates allowing any moisture ingress to ventilate to the outside. For high exposure areas, aluminium bottom beads can replace the traditional bottom beads and our internal teams are happy to advise to meet specific project solutions.
Weatherseals & Weather Rating:
Based on the design principles of our Traditional Box Sash Slider on Spiral Balances, the Traditional Box Sash Slider on Weights and Pulleys, although itself not tested, could be expected to achieve an exposure category of 2000+.
Energy Efficiency:
We have certified test results for our Traditional Box Sash Slider On Weights & Pulleys demonstrating its ability to achieve a whole frame U-Value of 1.5. We are currently re-simulating our Windows as we have moved from a 20mm to a 24mm glass unit.
